Feed Utah Statewide Food Drive
On Saturday, March 20, 2021, multi-faith-based congregations, organizations, and residents throughout Utah will collaborate with Utah Food Bank for the first annual statewide Feed Utah food drive, in partnership with Associated Food Stores, JustServe, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the NAACP, Bonneville Salt Lake (KSL TV, KSL News Radio, FM100.3 and 103.5 The Arrow) and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah Alliance.
This food drive will help provide food to the estimated 511,000 Utahns who are facing hunger this year—many of whom for the first time due to economic fallout resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Even more alarming is that 1 in 5 Utah kids are unsure where their next meal will come from. Our hope is that the Feed Utah food drive will bring together the power of Utah’s diverse religions, communities, and organizations in the fight against hunger—all while adhering to strict social distancing recommendations and safety protocols.
Residents across the state will receive door hangers during the days leading up to the food drive, and Utah Food Bank asks the public to help by placing a bag of non-perishable food outside their front door by 9am on the day of the food drive for pickup by volunteers.
Interested individuals can volunteer to help staff the drop-off sites throughout the State on the JustServe Site https://www.justserve.org/projects/ff7357ab-00ae-43cc-b321-9f531b0b71d9

Community Rakes and Shovels service now available
At a CCC meeting a few months ago, we were brainstorming community-wide initiatives that we could encourage everyone in Cache Valley to support. It soon came up that there is a pressing need for community members who are senior citizens or who live with disabilities to get connected to snow shoveling services.
We’ve officially launched a partnership between CCC and the USU Val R. Christensen Service Center to coordinate volunteers who can rake leaves and shovel snow for Cache Valley community members who request either service. All information can be found on this page: https://www.usu.edu/servicecenter/rakes_and_shovels. Both forms are on secure platforms.
In addition to instructions regarding COVID-19 precautionary measures, volunteers can find a registration form to offer their services and residents can find a service request form. We encourage everyone to keep this as much of a contactless service as possible, using the phone if contact is needed.
Questions can be directed to Nelda in the Service Center at 435-797-1740 or nelda.ault@usu.edu.

Valley-wide Food Drive
Are you looking for an initiative that can unite your organization in a common goal, while still maintaining physical distance? Organize a food drive to benefit the Cache Community Food Pantry! Here are some materials to get you started, including an informational letter and a fill-able PDF that you can put your group’s information in. We’re aiming for November 30 through December 5 as drop-off dates (December 5 is a special drop-off Saturday!), but the pantry will accept donations throughout the holidays.
And please note, often the pantry can stretch a dollar further than the average consumer can (with their tax exempt status and wholesale accounts), so if your drive includes financial contributions, all the better!
A Gathering of Gratitude
In normal times, this November would mark the 18th annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service held in the Logan Tabernacle. This year, CCC, in partnership with Utah Public Radio, presents a radio program of music and messages about gratitude, delivered by members of local civic organizations and faith communities.
Confirmed participants represent: the USU Val R. Christensen Service Center, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Logan Library, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, USU Interfaith Student Alliance, Loaves & Fishes Community Meal, Utah Families Feeding Families, Cache Valley Unitarian Universalists, the Eritrean/Ethiopian community, and musicians Anna Anawalt and the First Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir.
